New Year - new cars

We are almost there. I will start Jan 1 2013 :-) There will be 15 models of new cars.
You may ask what I did whole month that keeps me from updating blog and the answer is simple. Nothing.
I did few book covers, one banner, one poster, one cd cover and watched lot of movies. But it is going to change. Now I`m in mood and ready to start. I want to make new model every 3 days so ...keep me in bookmarks.

New project on the horizon. New cars for You, based on good materials and as good as possible to make them in this budget. It is too soon to show model list but I will try make popular models. Most of exotic cars are already there and sometimes for free so there is no sense to make them again. See Ya soon.

NPP - day 4

Today I work on the transformers, transmission pylons and other electric infrastructure. So far I have only a pylons and technical facilities  building and all that fenced and gated. In the next few hours I will model lot more of this mad net of lines and light constructions . Here what I have so far :

What is interesting is that we are still under 800.000 polys mark ! There is a chance that whole complex will not have more than one million polygons. Today I finish all electrics, tomorrow I will do offices and parkings and in Friday I will add as much filling detail as possible to make it even more complex. Golden rule in CGI is to avoid big flat empty arenas so I need to brake every flat surface with some kind of distraction for the eye.

Nuclear Power Plant - day 1

So I started last part of this project. So far I have everything planed on paper in my notepad. Model is based on compilation of three existing power plants so it may look similar to what You know from reality. What is ready You can see on previews but what is missing is too much to mention. For sure there will be big cooling section on the lower level. Under the bridge crane like in one of my real plants used as references. On top of that there will be main building where steam turbines are located. Then two reactor buildings and on the top level big field full of transformers and electric lines. Rest of free space I plan to fill with few small buildings, garages, few pipelines and big tanks for many unknown fluid and gases for all kind of sorcery. 
At the end all will be covered with few roads and lots of fences. We will see soon.

BTW: While I researched theme of the typical nuclear power plant I discovered that this iconic image of big cooling towers with clouds of steam on top ( like big chimneys ) are song of the past. Almost all new nuclear power plants do not have those. Not every power plant looks like Homer Simpson`s workplace :-)

Didn't have too much time today so only few small things. One of them is a terminal-plane connectors.

I can promise that I will work harder in next days. I want to finish it till Saturday.

Added few smaller buildings/garages. Still need to add some detail to the airstrip to brake this flat green areas. Maybe some poles or other constructions.

AirPort - day2 ( 3 if research counts)

So, how to fill area of the airport ( more than two kilometers long ) ? I`m working on that right now. Modeling so big area is a challenge ! So far I have shape and complete airstrip. Navigation lights will be reworked because at this moment they are more than 500.000 polys and this is unacceptable. It is what You get by simple copy/paste of not optimized elements. We also have radar station and communication tower.
What missing ? Everything ! I don`t know where to start.
There will be added :
- terminal with 8 gates and tunnels to the planes. ( see the first project, Train Station to have idea how much work is needed here ! )
- small private jet terminal
- two hangars
- big airliner and smaller private jet
- control tower
- parkings
- vehicles for plane towing and baggage transport
- roads to all objects
and many others that will be discovered as necessary while working on next stages.
I need minimum 5 more days for this project.It is a lot of work but I decided not to ask for more money. It is not honorable when You accept project and conditions but later have second thoughts. It is not my style.
Anyway... here You have early previews:

Container Terminal - final

My model of a container terminal as seen on the renderings is 2.140.000 polygons but most of that is a train (360.000) and seven wagons and other vehicles. As You can see with this project You will buy many models. Ship, train with flatbed wagon, two types of cranes, truck with flatbed trailer, container stacker and many smaller elements. Simple scene and light setup will be included. And now time for pictures :

You probably noticed that I left few empty places but I decided that it will be easier for client customization.
Let say that You need put somewhere a small building for clients company or make some other project specific changes ... it will be easier where there is no need for changing model to make some space. If that is not what You expect You can simply copy stack of containers and fill that space or place there few trucks and trailers to make simple parking area.
One more thing ... this is not a representation of any real terminal so do not ask me where it is located. It is just a little architect in me. Model will be available soon here :

Container Terminal - day 3/4

A lot of work ahead of me but it is already similar to the actual port. Still much of the elements are not there but I`m working on that. Scene as on those previews is about 900.000 polys and rendering time is only little above one minute in fullHD resolution so We can be optimistic about final effect. Outside scenes are rendered much, much faster.

Container Terminal

I decided to ditch the idea of yacht marina. It is too boring and too simple to make a good project. After all it is only a few platforms and a breakwater. Container terminal is completely different story.
We will have here :
- cranes to load/unload container ships
- bridge cranes to distribute containers
- container stacker vehicles
- truck with trailer
- train with wagons
- fences, entrance/check booths, some administration building
- hundreds of containers on the ground
- and of course ship
As You can see it is ambitious goal.
I`m working on models and materials three days now and in monday I will start to make it look like terminal.

Metro Station - final

It is 3 in the morning here and I just finished rendering of the previews. All You will see is straight from native renderer of Lightwave3d version 11. After that I corrected brightness and color tones in ACDseePro. Just to compensate lack of time to polishing rendering setup and to save some time. Reasons was laid in previous posts.

Entrance and surface part of the model.
Going down. Free space left for user customized scenes. Make it way You like.
Riding Escalators and going underground.
Platform level.
Tunnel entrance.
Camera in same place but facing back.

Next model : Sea port and yacht marina.
